The Challenge

The CEO of a leading mining company recognized an opportunity to strengthen executive collaboration and address key leadership challenges:

1. Breaking Down Silos: With a new CFO joining the team and various members focused on competing priorities, the executive team faced a lack of alignment across functions and struggled to integrate their efforts.

2. Enhancing Executive Leadership Effectiveness: The CEO aimed to leverage the team's strengths while addressing growth opportunities and enhancing communication across the executive group.

The Solution

In close partnership with the CEO and HR Team, Kirke Leadership (KLI) designed and implemented a comprehensive Executive Development Program. The objective was to foster collaboration, elevate leadership capabilities, and ensure cohesive alignment of the executive team.

The program encompassed three core components:

• Stakeholder Alignment: The initiative began with a clear articulation of the CEO’s vision and objectives, solidifying the strategic partnership with KLI. To tailor the program to individual needs, each member of the Executive Team engaged in one-on-one conversations with KLI to identify their specific roles, challenges, and desired outcomes.
• Leveraging DiSC for Enhanced Communication: An online DiSC assessment session was then facilitated, providing executives with a deep understanding of their communication styles. The 2-hour workshop included a review of DiSC fundamentals, using the Catalyst platform to foster a culture of openness and adaptability within the executive group. Through this process, the team gained valuable insights into each other’s styles and explored strategies for improved interaction and collective results.
• In-Person Strategic Alignment Session: The program culminated with a two-day offsite event in Vancouver, where executives gathered near headquarters. The immersive session focused on integrating business priorities, identifying challenges, and aligning strategies for optimal performance. Using DiSC insights and an additional tool for navigating challenging conversations, the team emerged with a shared vision, clear action plans, and a deeper understanding of each other’s goals.
